Having Air Conditioning Problems in Your Car? Here Are 5 Symptoms to Look for.

Summer is just around the corner and it’s already heating up quite a bit here in Simi Valley. Now is the time when you need your car’s air conditioner to be working well in order to keep you cool when it gets so hot outside in Southern California.

You can usually tell when your vehicle is having air conditioning problems, but here are the most common symptoms you can look for:

1. A/C Not Working

This is an obvious one. If the air isn’t blowing at all or you are not getting cold air when the A/C is on, then there is definitely an air conditioning problem you’ll want to have addressed. There could be a coolant (Freon) leak or it just needs to be recharged. Otherwise, an air conditioning problem can be caused by any number of issues, so it is best to have it looked at by a professional auto repair shop.

2. Funny Smells

If you turn on your air conditioning and the air smells funny, it’s no laughing matter. The vents might be dirty or contaminated with mold, in which case they needed to be properly cleaned out. Or, you might just need a new cabin air filter.

3. Strange Sounds

Any time you hear strange sounds coming from your vehicle, it is worth getting looked at. What may seem like a minor annoyance could be the signs of something really bad about to happen. If you turn on your air conditioner and you hear odd noises, there may be debris trapped in the vents, the fans could be failing or it might be something else.

4. Low aAir Pressure

It’s usually pretty obvious when your air conditioner doesn’t seem to be blowing with the normal air pressure. This can happen for any number of reasons, so you’ll want to have it inspected by an auto repair expert.

5. Water Stains

Most times after you run your air conditioner, you may notice water coming out from under the vehicle. This is a normal release of condensation. However, those lines can get clogged up and lead to the water leaking inside the vehicle. If you notice water stains on your floors, it is a problem you will want to have fixed immediately before mold damage or other issues occur in the passenger cabin.
